Our meeting with the IRS Agent was wrapping up. Sitting in the chair next to my husband, our two-year-old on my lap, I felt helpless. I knew it would take us years to pay the balance, especially with penalties and interest.
All the horror stories I had heard about the IRS were true, they were out to get you. I did not know we could have had someone help us with our tax issue. 

Every time we made a payment that feeling of helplessness would slowly turn into anger. Anger at myself for just sitting there. I should have asked more questions, but I didn’t know what to ask. All I could tell myself was I wouldn’t let this happen again.

Thinking back on my first IRS experience. I realize now that it wasn’t hopelessness or anger I was feeling, it was passion. I bring that same passion to you — the Taxpayer. The Taxpayer Bill of Rights gives you the right to representation.
